The Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for Racial Ethnic Minorities provides a one-time $3000 scholarship to an African American, Latino, Native American, Asian Pacific Islander, or a person of any racial or ethnic minority currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in the Brooks College of Performing Arts at the University of Tulsa.
In today’s society, it is more important than ever for racial and ethnic minorities to have a voice in the communications field. The Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for Racial Ethnic Minorities was established to help make this happen.
This scholarship is open to any student who is enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university and is pursuing a degree in communications with an emphasis on race and/or ethnicity. The scholarship provides recipients with up to $5,000 to help cover the cost of tuition, books, and other related expenses.

How eligible are you?
To be eligible for the Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for Racial Ethnic Minorities, applicants must:
-Be racial or ethnic minorities as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau
-Be enrolled full-time in an accredited four-year college or university in the United States-Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
-Demonstrate financial need as determined by their college or university’s financial aid office.
Applicants must also submit an essay on one of the following topics:
-How has your background or life experiences influenced your communication style and/or ability?
What challenges do you face when communicating with people from different backgrounds or experiences? How do you hope to use your education and communication skills to improve race relations and/or the lives of racial and ethnic minorities?
What qualifications do I need?
There are a few qualifications that are required in order to be eligible for the Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for racial and ethnic minorities. First, you must be a racial or ethnic minority who is pursuing a degree in communications at an accredited institution. Secondly, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Lastly, you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

The Leonard M. Perryman Communications Scholarship for Racial Ethnic Minorities is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 academic year. This scholarship provides financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition, books, and other educational expenses for eligible students.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
-Be enrolled full-time in an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
-Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
-Be of a racial/ethnic minority background (African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian Pacific Islander, or Native American)
-Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
-Demonstrate financial need as determined by their college or university’s financial aid office
