The Baer Reintegration Scholarship was created in 2000 by the International Association for Reintegrative Swallowing (IARS). The scholarship is named after Dr. Joan Baer, a pioneer in the field of reintegrative swallowing therapy. The scholarship is awarded to students who are pursuing a degree in speech-language pathology or a related field, with a focus on dysphagia management.
The scholarship was created to promote and support the education of future clinicians in the field of reintegrative swallowing therapy. This therapy is based on the principle that patients with dysphagia can improve their swallowing function by relearning proper swallowing mechanics. The goal of reintegrative therapy is to help patients regain as much independence as possible so that they can resume normal activities such as eating and drinking.
Since its inception, the Baer Reintegration Scholarship has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to deserving students. The IARS is proud to support the education of future clinicians who will make a difference in the lives of patients with dysphagia.
Who Can Apply for a Scholarship?
